Dr. Abbas Mokhtarzadeh, a professional engineer, amateur astronomer, informal educator, and science communicator, is one of five U.S. Co-National Outreach Coordinators (2024–2027) for the International Astronomical Union. He leads national efforts to connect grassroots outreach with global astronomy initiatives, promoting inclusive science education. He supports campaigns like 100 Hours of Astronomy and International Observe the Moon Night, while creating hands-on STEAM activities for diverse communities. Dr. Mokhtarzadeh is also developing a national website and volunteer network—especially in the eastern U.S.—to unite educators and foster collaboration between amateur and professional astronomers worldwide.
